Eldorado! - Cooperation and Working Together

The game with the WOW factor! Cooperation and working together while avoiding inter-departmental rivalry are key themes in this activity. And charities worldwide are benefitting from the Treasure of Eldorado!!
Very easy to run with large groups, great fun, highly interactive AND spells out a fundamental message for ALL organisations! Eldorado illustrates the importance of keeping your eye on the bigger picture.
With briefs, clues, tasks, treasure maps and resources to make ‘team mascot materials’, 10 teams work through the twists and turns to claim the treasure of Eldorado. Sooner or later they realise no team can go it alone. Even so, motivated by the thrill of treasure teams are unable to bind into one big team. Some try to go it alone, others form splinter groups. Very occasionally they work together brilliantly and WOW they rightly claim the treasure!
'We’re ALL on the same side!' - Eldorado is a wonderful illustration of this core value that gets overlooked in people’s day-to-day work. Rivalry, competition and lack of cooperation all too easily get in the way!
The Treasure
What works very well is to ask for a coin (eg £1) from each delegate and if this ‘treasure’ is not claimed it all goes to a charity of their choice (either way teams invariably ask, at the end, that the money goes to charity).

- to communicate openly with others and freely share information
- Divide participants into teams.
- Issue Team Folders.
- Stand by with supplies of coloured card, flagpoles, sticky tape & scissors (all provided), to issue to teams as soon as they have solved a riddle.
- Observe the teams in action and wait for a team or multi-teams to come to you with all the answers.
- After 90 minutes, stop the activity.
- Lead a Debrief highlighting the learning points.

Excellent design and materials. Brilliant for offering a creative way for teams/departments to learn important lessons about their own behaviours. I was delighted I used Eldorado! and would use again... and try out other activities by Northgate.
